Central station

Hints and tips

The map above should have 5 pin points showing bus departure points as well as Central itself

Buses leave the station from 3 sides

Catch the Light rail tram from Central to China town or Darling Harbour upstairs

Catch trains to the Blue Mountains from the Inter-city platforms upstairs

The station itself, on the outside is worth take the time to look at, especially where the Light rail departs from.

Do

  • Do: use Central as a staging area for trips to inter cities of Sydney.
  • Do: ask someone if you get lost - especially for platforms 24-25.
  • Do: bring your own foods and snacks to eat.

Do NOT

  • Do NOT use central as a starting point for city circle - use the most appropriate station to you

Trains

Platforms 1-3 are upstairs - regional trains - usually do not apply to people who are just visiting Sydney

Platforms 3-15 are upstairs - intercity trains - tourists use these platforms to goto the Blue Mountains

Platforms 16-23 are downstairs - local trains leave from here

Platforms 24-25 are underground - eastern suburbs - tourists use these platforms to goto the Bondi Beach

Light rail

Light rail departs from up stairs - the same level as platforms 1-15, but on the outside, opposite to where all the trains time tables are displayed.

Buses

Public buses depart from 3 sides of the station

George st, Eddy ave, and Elizabeth st( Chalmers st bus stop is considered Elizabeth st as they merge together)

You can use the Devonshire st tunnel to get to the George st buses - or the exits where platform 1-15 are located.
