How to best use this website

Introduction

Not all people are technically inclined and not all people think in the same way that the developer thinks the website will/should be used.

This page has been developed to give you an idea of how the developer designed and produced the web site to be used.

The design was specifically made to be easy to navigate on computers, tablets and hand held devices - with very few advertisements to interfer.

Main Categories

The website is split into two main categories - Things to do and Must do

Items in the Must do category are specifically aimed at first time visitors to Sydney

Items in the Things to do category are aimed at anyone who has "been there done that"

There are 2 other areas, Introduction and Reach us - these are not considered important, but exist for supporting reasons.

Understanding articles

Both Things to do and Must do will contain articles of activities.

Each article is split into 3 columns

Column 1
General overview, description, hints and tips
Column 2
Supporting photos, videos or other multimedia content
Column 3
Legends, disclaimers and page details

At the top of most articles, there will be a map which uses Google API.

On this map will be pins that locate and identify such things as:

  • Attraction positions
  • Bus stops
  • Train stations
  • Ferry wharf
  • Light rail station
  • Entry points for the attraction/walk
  • Exit points for the attraction/walk
  • Special notes

All maps start off in a zoomed out position so that the reader can see an overview of the whole activity, and has map controls which allow users to perform alot of interactive functionality.

The best use

The developer strongly encourages users to read over the article summary in full, then view the Google map, then the Photos or videos (supporting multimedia information).

Any other information provided on the activity article should be read last.

The developer has enabled "Google street view"(little orange person icon) on the maps and recommends using this feature to get an idea of what an area looks like at street level, so that you are familiar with the surroundings and will help reduce you being lost or disorientated.

Where possible, all the relevant information has been provided about the activity, and should be considered the minimum information.

Please remember though that this website is only a guide, with reasonable accuracy, but it is up to the traveler to determine specifics and safety surrounding each article etc

What do you mean by specifics and safety?

  • Specifics: Train arrival/departure times, bus numbers, is the recommended article open on public holidays.
  • Safety: Are you capable of performing what is recommended in the article? is it too far to walk? or is it too late in the evening to perform this task, do you have any food allergens to worry about etc
